Its goal is to help develop new, sustainable product and services for the operating companies. Sales & Marketing

Group Sales & Marketing assists the portfolio companies in promoting the business solutions and efficiently driving sales. The team provides market intelligence and facilitates meetings with key people and potential business partners to further the goals and strategies of the Group as well as build long lasting relationships with existing and prospective customers. The team also supports portfolio companies with communication and content creation, product launches, media relations, and social media strategy and execution.


Group Finance supports a broad range of strategic projects and tactical initiatives related to the group’s overall mission. This includes forecasting, budgeting, accounting/auditing, capital allocation, financial planning and analysis, and the identification of income-enhancing and revenue-generating opportunities.

HR & Administration

Group HR & Administration supports the Group in HR policies and incentives, recruitment, resource allocation, key personnel compensation, executive duties and leadership development.

Product Development

Leveraging latest technologies, tools and expertise our Product Development team transforms product ideas to world-wide inspired online services as well as sophisticated back-end process support. The three dedicated teams based in Dubai and Ukraine focus on product support, feature development and project development. They consider the overall user experience a strategic element of any software solution and are committed to building and maintaining a strong user experience (UX) team in order to develop particular excellence in this area.

IT Operations

Group IT Operations is responsible for Marcura’s IT strategy. It provides group-wide solutions for operational IT infrastructure. It focuses on ensuring the integrity, quality and consistency of IT projects and deliverables; systems operation and maintenance; systems availability; and unwavering systems security.

Legal & Compliance

Group Legal & Compliance assists the Boards of the companies in fulfilling their oversight responsibilities related to promoting an organizational culture that encourages ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. It also provides advice and counsel with regards to internal controls, risk management, contract negotiations, and the handling and disposition of important legal matters.


Marcura is the Group holding company with ownership of currently five operating companies serving more than 200 leading maritime organisations worldwide.

Each operating company, and the holding company, has a duly elected Board of Directors, which meet on a regular basis.
The roles and responsibilities of the Boards are in line with typical commercial organisation boards.

Although the current Group holding structure is relatively new, set up in late 2009, the operating companies have been in existence for a number of years.
DA-Desk is the largest independent provider of port cost management services.  Its mission is to increase transparency in the disbursement account (DA) process, create operational efficiency, and improve the price-value relationship for both principals of shipping companies and port agents. PortsDirect is an independent contract management solutions company focused on the vetting of towage service providers, procurement of discounted rate agreements, and the administration of these agreements for the benefit of shipping companies and suppliers. The company passes the entire negotiated savings directly to its customers and receives no commission from suppliers. Jens Lorens Poulsen Founder and Group CEO

Jens Lorens Poulsen is the Founder and Group CEO of Marcura, established in 2001. His focus is market and service strategy. Previously, Jens was a Senior Partner at Cultivator A/S, then one of Scandinavia's leading Management Consultancies, where he provided management counsel to Engineering, Software and Pharmaceutical companies. Earlier, he was involved in the initial launch of Cisco Systems, Inc. in the Scandinavian countries. Prior to that he was Financial Director at UNIRAS A/S, a pioneering scientific visualization software company with global customers. He has held a position as VP Finance for the Treasury of Hafnia, a major Scandinavian insurance group. He started his career with Andersen Consulting, now Accenture. He holds a BSc in Finance and Management from Aarhus Business School.

Christian Siemers Haunsø Founder & Chairman of the Board

Christian Siemers Haunsø is non-executive director and Chairman of the Board of Marcura. He co-founded the company in 2001. Christian drives innovation and business strategies. Previously, Christian worked in the Structured Commodity Finance Division at ING Barings in Amsterdam and Moscow, with focus on the metals and shipping industries. Prior to that he worked at a ship broking and trading house in Hamburg where his duties covered operations, chartering and grain trading. Earlier he worked in the shipping liner trade for Überseeschiffahrtsagentur Transnautic in Hamburg. Christian holds a Master in Shipping, Trade and Finance from Cass Business School. Prior to that, he finished his dual shipping apprenticeship and subsequently completed his ICS examinations at the HSST - Hamburg School of Shipping & Transportation.

Karsten Gregory Group CFO

Karsten Gregory, Group CFO for Marcura, is involved in a broad range of strategic and tactical tasks related to the group’s overall mission and practices. These include forecasting, accounting, financial planning and analysis, regulatory compliance monitoring, and the identification of income-enhancing and revenue-generating opportunities. Karsten’s 20 years of international financial experience includes five years as a CFO, as well as work for leading IT companies such as CSC and Dell. He has a graduate diploma in Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School and an MBA from Henley Management College in London.

Felix J. Antero Group GC & CCO

As the Group General Counsel (GC) and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) for Marcura, Felix assists the group with its legal matters, risk management, compliance and overall corporate governance. He has worked and consulted with various international companies and previously operated a financial services agency in California representing industry-leading institutions. He is a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association and the ABA Advisory Panel. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from Ateneo de Manila University, a Juris Doctorate from John F. Kennedy University School of Law and a Certificate in Finance, with Distinction, from UC Berkeley Extension.

Daryl O Regan Group CTO

Daryl O Regan, Group CTO for Marcura, is responsible for provision of a federated IT strategy across the group’s operational systems, ensuring performance, security, integration and system availability for all IT infrastructure and core platform, hosting the group’s SaaS solutions. Daryl is a technology management professional with over twenty years’ experience from multinational corporations within telecommunications, SaaS workflow systems and the BI and Corporate Performance Management spaces. A career technologist, Daryl holds an undergraduate degree in Electronic Systems from the University of Ulster in Ireland and a graduate diploma in Software Engineering from Oxford University.
